The Journey Begins…..
My CrossFit Vacaville story began in January 2011. I completed my introductory session and the Newbie WOD with Andy on January 4th, 2011 and 6 months later I am still going strong!
Ciandra’s battle of the dress size…
In January, I was in a size 18. At the 6 month point, 7 inches later, I fit into a size 10 for the first time in years. It isn’t just the WODs that get the credit either. The genius of CFVV is the sense of family among the members. When I first looked into CF, I thought we’d be surrounded by a bunch of gung-ho “meatheads” or the amazingly fit stick figures. I quickly learned the CFVV family is all shapes, sizes and fitness abilities. We each have goals, a story of how we started out, and amazing success stories. Everyone is encouraging and is there for you during a WOD with words of motivation and support.
I’ve been to a lot of gyms, hired a trainer, gone to Pilates, yoga, group fitness classes, tried diets, walking, cycling but nothing has transformed my shape and figure like CF. Six months ago I frequented a chiropractor and acupuncturist for stress, skeletal and muscular fatigue due to my sedentary life style. My body fat percentage was over 37%. Today my body fat is down 5.2% and I feel great.
The journey continues…..
I have really had to push myself and change my daily routine to make it to the gym 5 times a week. When I started, Canyon was 2 ½ and a handful. It’s not the easiest thing to do, but with the support of CFVV and family, we have been able to stay on track. CrossFit Vacaville is not your normal gym. There are no mirrors, boring cardio equipment, televisions, locker rooms, lap pool, or spa. There are a lot of things CFVV doesn’t have because you don’t need them, but they have all the things you do need. They have a great staff and trainers, varied and challenging work-out routines and a great sense of community. CrossFit Vacaville isn’t a gym, it’s a lifestyle.
Each callus on my hand is sign of my hard work and dedication, but I look forward to each WOD.
